The US currency of the largest denomination. They had been printed for three weeks from December 1934 to January 1935. In the time of the Great Depression, they were needed for settlements between the US Treasury and the Federal Reserve Banks. Gold certificates. Those banknotes have never been in free circulation. A total of 42,000 copies were printed. After a while, most of them were destroyed.

The banknote depicts the 28th US president, Woodrow Wilson, who won in 1919 the Nobel Peace Prize for his contribution to the Treaty of Versailles. Under his rule, America took the position of the largest economic power and began to play the first role in world politics.
